CYPRESS, Texas – Fire officials and CenterPoint responded to a gas leak Tuesday afternoon in the Cypress area, according to the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Officials responded to the scene around 10:53 a.m. between Sheffield Park Drive at Schiel Road about a gas leak coming from a 2-inch service line.
Rosehill Fire Department said it sent units along with Harris County Hazmat units and Precinct 4 constables, Fire Chief Lee Sulecki tweeted. Sulecki said the leak was in the area of three subdivisions and near Swenke Elementary School.
He said Centerpoint was on the scene trying to figure out how to stop the leak. Sulecki said one residence was evacuated due to the smell of the gas.
Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, the gas leak was secured and the ventilation process began for the evacuated home.
Gas has been secured. Ventilation of evacuated residence is underway.
