A gas leak in Eastvale on Thursday morning prompted the evacuation of 45 homes and 1 commercial property for hours, fire authorities said.
The outside leak was reported at about 8:45 a.m. in the 8500 block of Archibald Avenue, the CalFire/Riverside County Fire Department said. It had been quelled by 12:10 p.m. and evacuation orders were lifted.
The homes evacuated were on Lourenco Lane, Corbin Drive and Wisman Drive, streets adjacent to Archibald Avenue.
Southern California Gas Company officials said a construction crew working in the area damaged a natural gas main.
No injuries were reported. The line damage had resulted in a gas outage to one home before Southern California Gas Company crews repaired the rupture, gas company spokeswoman Christine Detz said.
Fire officials said Archibald Avenue would remain closed between Wind River Road and Corbin Drive while repairs were finished.
“SoCalGas reminds residents and business owners to contact 811 before you dig in the garden or at a construction site,” Detz said.
