GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) - It was a cold night and start to the morning for some people in Grand Blanc Township on Wednesday.
Consumers Energy is working to restore natural gas service after a private contractor hit a line on Pollock Road near Ascension Genesys Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
Service had to be shut down to about 1,300 homes and businesses while repairs were being made. That left many homes south of Grand Blanc without heat Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Crews worked through the night on safely turning off natural gas service to the affected customers and repairing the damaged natural gas line.
Consumers planned to begin restoring gas service around 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Grand Blanc Township Fire Department and Consumers crews will go door to door to re-light pilot lights once service is restored.
Anyone in the area with questions or concerns about their natural gas service should call Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050.
