MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - UPDATE: The store clerk told officers that two vehicles were in the parking lot when gunshots rang out before they drove away.
Deangelo Howard was taken to the hospital after the investigation showed he was allegedly shot during an argument with Ombae Johnson Jr., 20 of Martinsville, and Dasyne A. Hairston, 19 of Martinsville, during which Johnson was the suspect who directly hit Howard with gunfire.
Howard was taken to an emergency room nearby prior to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
According to the Martinsville Police Department, the parties involved at Valero were not directly involved in the El Norteno restaurant shooting, but their argument was a result of that incident.
Warrants were issued for malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied building, reckless handling of a firearm, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for both suspects.
EARLIER STORY: A young man was found shot early Saturday morning at the Valero gas station (1105 Brookdale Street) not far from the El Norteno restaurant where two men died and another two victims were injured in a shooting late Friday night.
The Martinsville Police Department say they responded to an alarm that went off at the business at 1:46 a.m and arrived two minutes later.
There is no word on the extent of the young man’s injuries.
No arrests were made, and a suspect is yet to be named.
The scene is now clear, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety as a result of the case.
Authorities are unable to say for certain if the two incidents are connected.
