Gas prices on the rise nationally, according to AAA - WSIL TV

kodikod.blogspot.com

(WSIL)---Gas prices are on the rise, and drivers in Missouri could be seeing the highest prices at the pump since July of 2019.

According to AAA, prices are up about 6 cents per gallon as compared to last week.

Missouri currently has an average of $2.48 a gallon for regular unleaded -- while Illinois averages about $2.89 a gallon.

The rising prices are partially attributed to cold temperatures shutting down crude oil production.

"Crude oil prices are the highest they've been in quite some time so that's really driving the price at the pump up, as well as the anticipated demand for gasoline as more vaccines roll out and people get more comfortable with traveling again, just something to keep in mind as we move forward here," said AAA St. Louis spokesman Nick Chabarria.

AAA predicts prices will stall before rising once again.
