GOLETA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters and deputies investigated a gas leak in Old Town Goleta Monday afternoon.
The call went out around 1:31 p.m. Monday afternoon regarding a damaged gas line on the 100 block of Orange Avenue.
Firefighters said the gas leak was outside on the corner of Orange and Hollister. A large gas line was struck during a construction operation in the area.
Evacuations were ordered for residences on the 100 block of Orange due to the leak and Hollister Avenue was closed in both directions at Fairview Avenue and Orange.
Santa Barbara County Fire said crews were on scene working to shut off the gas so that the pipe could be repaired.
At around 5:40 p.m., evacuations were lifted but people were still encouraged to use caution in the area while crews remained on scene.
No injuries or fire were reported in connection to the gas leak.
