With comfortable shoulder season conditions lining up for the coming weeks, natural gas futures retreated further in early trading Monday. Following a 6.4-cent sell-off in Friday’s session, the October Nymex contract was off another 1.2 cents to $2.632/MMBtu as of around 8:40 a.m. ET.
Weather models, already advertising a bearish outlook as of late last week, trended further bearish over the weekend by shedding several degree days, according to NatGasWeather.
“National demand will be light the next 15 days as most of the U.S. experiences comfortable highs of upper 60s to 80s besides hotter 90s across the far southern U.S., focused over Texas,” NatGasWeather said.
