Drivers were advised to find an alternate route.
A gas leak closed a Sarasota street on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, the leak was in the area near Bay Road and U.S. 41. Bay Road was closed and police were assisting Sarasota County Emergency Services with traffic control.
Samantha Sonner with SNN-TV reported that traffic was shut down for about a block around the Bay Road and U.S. 41 intersection. There was a strong odor of natural gas.
Drivers were advised to find an alternate route.
