San Diego Gas & Electric crews plan to go door-to-door and restore service, however, about 430 customers in the surrounding area remained without gas service Saturday morning, according to SDG&E.
The utility advised residents not to relight the pilot light themselves, saying employees will leave a callback number if residents are not home when utility crews visit.
The Poway Fire Department received a call at 9:48 a.m. Friday about a construction crew that was digging and struck a 4-inch gas main near the intersection of Pomerado Road and Holland Road.
Pomerado Road was closed from Leone Way to Vaughan Road. Powers Road and Frame Road were closed at Vaughan Road. Holland Road, Glenoak Road and Frame Road were also impacted. Some of the closures remained in effect even after the evacuation order was lifted Friday evening.
No injuries were reported.
