1444 ET – Milder U.S. weather forecasts beyond the current cold snap are keeping pressure on natural gas futures, which fall for a third straight session. “Natural gas is still torn, it doesn’t know whether it should focus on cold weather and supply draws or it should focus on record-breaking natural gas production,” says Phil Flynn of Price Futures Group. “There is a polar vortex that could come into America and if that happens then natural gas will probably have a pretty good move to the upside. If not, get ready to meander to the downside.” Natural gas for January delivery settles down 3.7% at $2.837/mmBtu. The December contract, which expires today, settles off 3.1% at $2.706/mmBtu. (
